Lions Invitation to Peoples
If you think it's bad, please feel free to adjust it!
If you think it's good, feel free to crib it, if you like. :)
Hi John, Michael, Bayle, Sam, J---, and Tom,
(Michael, I don't know you, but I was asked to contact you,
and it's my pleasure to do so! Greetings, nice to meet you!)
We're convening...
RECENT CHANGES CAMP, 2007,
in Portland, OR!!
RAAAA!
Recent Changes Camp, 2007, Executive Summary:
Dates: Friday Feb 2nd - Sunday Feb 4th
Location: Audio Cinema, 226 SE Madison St Portland, OR 97214
Format: Open Space ***Technology.***
(Kaliya Hamlin and Ted Ernst co-facilitating)
You know the deal: Activists, Technology, Geeks, Community
Organizers, Wiki Geeks, WARD CUNNINGHAM HIMSELF, Process Artists,
Politicians, Famous People, Rich People, and so on, and so forth.
Just like last time.
John Abbe: You already know why you should come:
Get your picture on the front page of the newspaper,
again! Only question in my mind is if you'll be
in India at the time or not.
Michael: Glad to meet you; Damn glad to meet you!
Check out http://2006.recentchangescamp.org/ and
http://2006.recentchangescamp.org/CampProceedings
to see what last year was like. :)
Bayle: Come because it's about wiki, I imagine Ward we'll all
get updated (and hopefully contribute to) some Sister
Sites stuff, (and hopefully Local Names, ...) and so on.
Sam Rose: Come because it's about wiki, Comm tech in general,
and so I can FINALLY meet you in person.
Won't be hurt if you can't make it, though.
But, please, come. It's so much fun, and because
people get inspired, and agreements are formed and
stabilized.
J---: I haven't talked with you in too long. Please, please,
please come, and lets talk again. I hope you can make
it, for at least part of it. Our conversation about
identity systems meant a lot to me, last time, as well
as staying at your place afterwards.
Tom Atlee: If it was good for you last year, I think you'll
find value in the experience again.
We'll talk CI, which, as you know, I am more
focused on lately. That shouldn't change by
February.
I know some of you don't know the others; A brief introduction:
John Abbe: John writes on "Abbe Normal,"
http://ourpla.net/cgi-bin/pikie.cgi?AbbeNormal
is super insightful, into NVC, and the founder of
del.icio.us says that the ideas in John's wiki
inspired del.icio.us. How about that?
Michael: It's nice to meet you!

http://cerenity.org/Home
http://cerenity.org/cgi-bin/blog/blog.cgi
That last one is SUPER-interesting, and reminds
me of some thoughts we've had on CW:OrderedWiki,
by layout...
http://communitywiki.org/OrderedWiki
Bayle: "Bayle Shanks" as we know him on CW is a CommunityWiki
old-timer & oft-times regular, he's also a neuroscientist.
When we upload our minds into vats, it'll be because of
Bayle. He also writes wiki software for manipulating
and transfering wiki pages.
http://communitywiki.org/BayleShanks
http://communitywiki.org/WikiWindow
Sam Rose: Sam Rose thinks **a lot** about societies,
transformations in social consciousness, understanding
processes and so on, and collaboration software.
He codes, he thinks, he knows and reveals amazing ideas.
http://communitywiki.org/SamRose
Tom, Sam Rose. Sam Rose, Tom. You two should DEFINITELY
talk, when/should/if/when-reality-comes-to-pass you come.
J---: J, who is anonymous, hosts some amazingly cool sites that
I'm not linking to for security reasons, and has a real
wild mind that integrates a lot of profoundly deep subjects.
You may know him, you may not. Talk with him.
Tom Atlee: Tom Atlee is an established Collective Intelligence
big wig.
http://www.co-intelligence.org/
That's him. He *wrote* the Tao of Democracy.
He also works on Evolutionary Spirituality stuff, which,
I personally, think is absolutely incredibly important.
Come to see each other, meet each other, collaborate together, and
so on. Really, it's you, the participants, that make the conference.
That's our rule, that's how we work.
There are far more than just the few of you, of course, but you are
the contents of my initial invitation list. (There are lots of
co-conveners, sending out lots of invitations.)
We have an *awesome* **huge** ***big*** space, it's going to be great.
It'll be like the vintage 2005 Seattle MindCamp I (the first) style,
which was really cool. You can camp out there, if you want- avoid all
those nasty hotel fees. I'm not clear on costs yet, but it's going to
be, at most, very very low. "Lion Kimbro" low, if you know what I
mean. (I hope I'm right about this...)
I'll see about getting stylish silhouette art for the t-shirts...
(Are we even HAVING t-shirts? I don't know yet.)
AT ANY RATE.
Details are collected on the wiki:
http://2007.recentchangescamp.org/Main_Page
Go there, put your name down, say you're coming.
That's it.
If you want to help us co-convene, (and you ARE invited to,)
put "(co-convener)" after your name. That's it, at this point.
Please please please call me if you have any questions:
206.427.2545
...as always.
Michael, that goes out to you, too. Call me if you want to
know about this, or even just say, "Hi!" I'd like to see you
there. Let me know what's up.
OH YES, FINALLY:
"What's Lion actually ASKING from me here?"
I'm asking: "Are you coming?"
Our preferred answer is, of course, yes, but perhaps there are reasons
the answer is **no,** answers that can be **changed,** persuasions that
can be made... Persuasions that can be made with **money,** perhaps,
or... Other things...
Whatever your way of saying "Hell yes," or whatever your way of saying,
"Pay me to even just think about it," let me know, interact, respond,
speak, voice, invocate, or just hit the "reply" button on your web
browser, and tell me whatever it is that you have to tell me.
...even if it IS, ... just... "No."
Do it. DO IT, I say! Or else, ... I will throw you more emails, and
more emails, until you capitulate, and I hear from you.
Yes, THIS IS a threat!
OR,
just,
http://2007.recentchangescamp.org/Main_Page
-- go there, put your name down, say you're coming.
I'm checking that list, and not just twice.
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
Thank you,
With Love,
Affectionately, **Adorably,** yours,
Truly,
Lion Kimbro
Eccentric, yes, quirky, yes, I know, but this is what you get when you ask Lion Kimbro to write an invitation.
