From RCC 2007
I went to RCC Year 1 and it blew my mind. I was so taken that I copied pictures and put them in a portable scrapbook. I carried it around like a grandma's brag book and told anyone who'd listen. Things happened at RCC. It blew my mind that people could actually act like cells in a body and just work together. No one seemed to be worried about permission to do things, they just got it done or asked for help from the group. Someone usually stepped up to the plate. The group got it done. People listened to each other, especially in the small groups, made time to listen and understand. Were willing to show what they were energized about.
I also liked Geri's spontaneous video of year one (RCC 2006 OpenFrame). She just went around taping and did in-camera editing. Her expertise in television and intuition for the start and stop buttons paid off because it is fantastic what she did. Twenty minutes of excerpts from the Camp that tell it like it happened just as it happened. Thanks Geri.
This year Brandon prompted me to be a co-convener since he knows I value the collaborative process. I see similarities between RCC06 and Scott Peck's book Different Drum. I really like the OST style. Open Space Technology may be scary, but it's worth it in the end. I'm still trying to learn the process. It's scary because it looks messy, but it's a "beautiful mess" to borrow a phrase.
