Feng Shui and the Concept of Currency

"The Flow of Currency known as "Bagua" (Treasure) and how that might apply to improving wiki programming.

Directions & (feminine) Path:

• South: Livelihood, Career (White)

• North: Reputation (Red)
• North-East: Love & Marriage (Orange)
• East: Creativity & Children (Yellow)

Gendered energy flows:

• Masculine: From the Center, to a specific point, back to the Center.
• Feminine: Spiral from the center, clockwise around through the points, and back to the center.

Some notes:

• currency = treasures = flow
• energy = chi = ki = manna

Discussion

• Rheanni talked about working with doctors and their patients with electro-magnetic poisoning. She is called upon to visit homes and evaluate their surroundings, frequently determining from where the patient is attracting their illness. Electronic devices such as television and computers create a disturbance in the natural, healthy flow if chi in a home. Rheanni suggests that there is something about the way data is programmed that causes the problem.

She doesn't know much about programming, but describes dysfunctional energy flow in human beings and buidings to help programmers understand the dynamics:

• When there's something wrong, it's usually because people aren't getting energy from within themselves, from within their center.
• Families with problems often, for example, focus on material wealth.
• Many people go nuts or get ill with computers. "Does it have to be this way?" she asks.
• What's with these technology problems? What's going on here?
  • (Lion starts talking about how Technology is in infancy, and is cramped and poor and weak. Points to the Nintendo Wii as an example of it pointing towards interaction with "our world" out here.)
• We discuss the Feminine energy here at the facility for this RecentChangesCamp. It comes from above the mirror ball hanging in the center of the room, which is normal, however; we find it going in reverse direction (counter-clockwise) around the room. "It's chaotic. People often get very sick in environments where the flow is reversed."
• The home follows the pattern of their owners-- it "carries through" them.
• Can we consciously create digital environments that go with the flow, rather than against it?
• Question: "How can you translate that into 1's and 0's?"
  • Lion answers with Metaphysical Code, a description of email software written based on Aristotle's 4 elements model and pagan ideas.
• Dunbar asks, "If you make the environments always wholesome, then some of these particular things aren't as fun." The example of a shooter video game: It's not fun if it's wholesome.

• How can we use colors (labeled above,) and other elements in software to make the enrgy less chaotic and more intuitive?
• Analysis, Intuition. Reanni explained, "Intuition is the 1st thing that pops into your mind." Not what it should be, not what you wish it were instead, and so on: The 1st thing that pops into your mind.
• A discussion about models. Spiral Dynamics, "The Gift." Different ideas about money (Fast money, Durable assets, Knowledge & things that gain value with repetition.)
• "How will the Internet experience adapt to this?"
• How does MySpace focus on an area of the bagua? (ex: "Health, Family, Friends.") "What is Affordance?" and then Social Affordance.
• Where did the Internet come from? Academics, men, military. "The wall in the diagram is martial." It may be in its teenage years and further programming with engineers also trained in Feng Shui may make this standard programming.
• "The more we are in line with this, the easier this change will be to make."

  • "It's not clear to me how to apply this to 1's and 0's."

• Balancing the masculine & feminine, these different paradox within ourselves, is essential.
• Healthy energy flows through the center, through you. What is considered the "center" of a computer? That is the place to start.
