Ward Cunningham brought in his electric scooter. A half dozen folks showed they could learn to drive it indoors without doing excessive damage. He thanks all for allowing this use of the space.

The scooter has a range of 25 miles on level ground. Ward has driven his from Garden Home to Downtown and home again (about 16 miles and over the west hills twice) without recharging. An 80% recharge takes about four hours and costs about a nickle.

Oregon calls this an "electrically assisted scooter". It is exempt from licensing and insurance because it does not go faster than 24 mph. Driving is permitted on both roads and bike paths, subject to local exception. Oregon does require drivers to be at least 16 years old and all must wear a helmet.
